Fallow Year
It’s been a quiet year for me in the sense that I stopped doing everything I was doing before. I was ill for a really long time then ended up basically being a housewife for a few months whilst we tried to make ends meet with no gigs. My partner also earns all his money through live music so the lockdown hit us hard BUT quite a few things have been moving forwards so here’s a little run down of a few of them:
1) Right before I stopped gigging I signed to Ellhorn Music agency and the lovely Kate Rouse will be booking for me now.
2) I’ve been doing a fair bit of songwriting and a load of other fun stuff for a computer games company who have many tech skills I don’t. They were not too impressed with my wordpress efforts and have very kindly totally rebuilt my website for me so have a little look around. I’ll be working with them for the foreseeable future so lots more to come on that later.
3) I have had some amazing advice from Terry O’Brien at Playpen Music as part of her folk Artist mentoring scheme. It’s really cheered me up a lot to have some help and support after quite a tough year of totally changing it up. There are so many options and opportunities as a self managed artist that I often get a bit overwhelmed unsure which idea to follow through on. Terry has so much knowledge and experience as a manger that I now feel so positive about moving forward. Getting a bit of momentum back again is awesome.
4) Despite being busy surviving I have been working through most of it for about one hour a week on a new song with Hugh Webber. We thin its the longest most committed co-write ever but it was the only way I could do it. We’ve moved into the production stage but it’s still going snail pace so watch this space.
I’ve also started on some projects which are too little to talk about yet but there’s some creative stuff going on too.
Big love
Elie
