UK based folk punk singer songwriter Elie Rees has released 2 solo albums since 2017 with the second album debuting at #7 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. Elie is currently working on an exciting new Help Musicians funded project called ‘Fen Woman’. On this album Elie is delving further into her folk roots, researching songs about women from the past and reflecting on how times have changed for women, and how they haven’t, in a collection of new and old songs.
Elie began her music career on flute working on the folk scene and then expanded into jazz completing a BaMus(jazz) in 2012. In 2013 Elie had a vision for a concept album ‘Welcome to Wonderland’ which consisted entirely of self-written songs. Already singing professionally at jazz gigs it was the desire to create this album that lead Elie to focus on guitar and solo performing in order to get real life feedback on the more personal songs she was now writing. 10 years in Elie is a seasoned solo artist who works at live gigging and writing songs for commissions.
